Summer Holidays
We're just back from a trip to the "far north". Click here to see the photos.
It was great to have a break from the shaking, but on my first night back I was awoken to a magnitude 5 shake :-(
Earthquake Update 24 December
Just when we thought it was getting better we had another few sizeable shakes. The worst for us was this morning at 6.37 am. It was magniture 5.1, depth 7.7 km (shallow) and only 8.9 km (5.5 miles) away. It was not the destructive nature of this one, rather that it woke me up too early. I'm supposed to be on holiday and I had plans to lie in today.
We've suffered no new damage and the five of us are just taking it in our stride - "been there, done that". We currently have Fiona's parents visiting for Christmas (from the UK) and I think it is very unsettling for them.
The sun is shining, it's Christmas Eve and all is well.
